Fran McInulty Produces ‘Sparks’ at Epic Golf Fundraiser
Piling Area Sales Representative Fran McInulty was a man barely alive after walking 46km to complete the Branston Longest Golf Day event which took place in June. The 72-hole golfing marathon was completed by Fran and a small team across an epic 15 hour stretch with an initial target of £500 to raise in support of a children’s charity called ‘Sparks’.
Sparks raises money to fund pioneering child health research across the UK, helping to find new treatments and cures for children and families who desperately need them. Since 1991, Sparks has funded over £30m of research into complex childcare conditions such as cancers, epilepsy and cerebral palsy. They receive no government funding and rely totally on the efforts of generous supporters.
In the event, the team easily beat their initial target; eventually raising a total of £620 to help Sparks continue with their vital work.
Listening to Fran describe how he felt following this gruelling event gives an indication of just how difficult the challenge was:
“I had nothing left in the tank, the back 9 on round 2 was the toughest – after that I wasn’t too bad but my feet are still in bits now with blisters and joint pains. Safe to say I need 2 new feet and a new back... This is one of the toughest things I’ve ever had to do but well worth it; we also smashed our target.”
A big well done to Fran and all concerned...
